How to Create a Poster in Photoshop

Hello Everyone, this is Reza from Apple Graphic Studio. In today's tutorial, I'm gonna to show you how to create a Poster in Photoshop. Which will looking awesome and professional. By using this tutorial, you'll learn to design movie poster well. So, you can get big budget's contract from production house. Anyways, Let's start our mission.

[Note: I have done this work by utilizing Adobe Photoshop CC 2017. It might be work on Adobe Photoshop cs 6, cs 7, CC 2014, CC 2015 and CC 2017.]

STEP 1

First of all, download stock images from above link. Now drag the women's image in Photoshop. After open the image, select Pen Tool from the left bar of Photoshop. And cut the women's out. After that, click mask icon from Layer Panel.

STEP 2

Now, go to File > New to create a new page in Photoshop. A new window will appear in front of you. Set the Width 10 inch, Height 7 inch and Resolution 72 Pixel or 300 Pixel. 

STEP 3

After creating the new page, you need to drag the women's image into new page. If need to resize, press Ctrl+T from your keyboard to resize. Look at the screenshot below.

STEP 4

At this moment, we needs to import 2 different stocks in Photoshop (must be in same page). First import the Runway image, and next add the Sky image. If need to resize, press Ctrl+T from your keyboard to resize. Look at the screenshot below.

STEP 5

Select the Sky image's layer and click mask icon from Layer Panel (See the screenshot below). After that, select Gradient Tool from left bar from your Photoshop. 

STEP 6
In this step, we'll create shadow for realistic of this poster. Okay, create a new layer under the girl's layer, that means 'Layer 1'. Then select brush tool and select soft brush and hit under foot of the girl.
Also decrease the opacity of this layer and go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur and set the radius 8.5. And then hit OK button.



Duplicate 'Layer 1' by pressing Ctrl+J from your Keyboard. After that, you will see an another layer. That's name will 'Layer 1 copy'.
Don't afraid! Select any Black or Grey color from Color picker. Then  press and hold Ctrl key from your Keyboard and click on 'Layer 1 copy'. It will select the women's body. Now press Ctrl+Delete or Ctrl+Backspace button to fill the Black or Grey color.

Press Ctrl+T to transform the black shape. At this moment of transforming the black shape or 'Layer 1 copy', click right button of your mouse. You will find 'Distort' option. Hit on that. Now hold the side of this shape and move under. Follow the screenshot to understand very easily.



After that, go to Edit > Fill and select Fill Foreground Color and then click OK button. Also decrease the opacity of this layer into 75-85.



STEP 7
In this step, we will import two different stock. Firstly, Import an another stock image 'bubbles' from stock gallery, that I shared above. Send this layer under 'Layer 1'. Also set it's blending mood into screen and decrease the opacity a little bit.



Firstly, Import an another stock image '1908772' from stock gallery, that I shared above. Send this layer under 'Layer 1' and above the layer of 'bubbles'. Also set it's blending mood into screen and decrease the opacity a little bit.



STEP 7
Now, create a light effect as usual we do. Create a new layer and select 2 different color. Then select brush tool and hit on the middle step by step. First, Red, and last, white. And set its blending mood to screen. Must move the layer and set, where it looks fine.

Import the 'Helicopter' stock in Photoshop. Now send it under the layer of  light, that we created in previous step. Press Ctrl+T to transform if needs.



Add a Light brush under the Helicopter. Now import the spark image from stock gallery. And set it's blending mood to screen.



Copy the layer by press and holding Shift+Alt key from your Keyboard. Set the spark here and there in the poster.



STEP 8
Select Text Tool from left bar of Photoshop or press 'T' from your Keyboard. And then type your desired movie name. Example - Mission 2.



Import a golden color metal stock image. I have shared that in stock images gallery. Click right button of your mouse on this layer and hit on 'Create Clipping Mask' option.



Dabble click on the Text layer and check the drop shadow option. Set the Opacity - 60, Distance - 10, Spread - 22, Size - 9, and last click OK button.



STEP 8
In this option we'll take the action of Color Correction. Apply all layers into one layer. And go to Filter > Camera Raw Filter and set all option by following the image below. After that, hit OK button.



Go to Filter > Lens Correction and select 'Custom'. Set the amount -62 and hit OK button.



At last, go to Filter > Camera Raw Filter and choose your desired effect and click OK.
